I spotted this majestic bull elk proudly posed in profile in the meadows along West Yellowstone's Madison River. It was a beautiful late September afternoon. This big guy, gathering a harem and alert to any interlopers, gained the nickname Fabio. Look closely and you will see the marks of earned dominance over competitors. I sat in the meadow, at a safe distance, with my camera and super telephoto lens soaking in the unfolding story.
